Re: Borden Ave closure May 28th and 29th
Due to the presence of a crane and other heavy construction equipment on Borden Ave to assist in the construction of new residences in this area Tier 2 buses will not be able to travel around Borden Ave on May 28th in the PM and May 29th in the AM to access General Lake Public School as it will be closed on those days.
The route the buses will be taking to drop off and pick up students is as follows:
Vehicles will now need to access General Lake P.S. by turning onto Borden Ave off of Dundonald Dr. Once the vehicles are traveling on Borden Ave they will proceed to the flag man who will then assist them making the 3 point turn by with backing into the gravel turnaround provided by the construction company on the right hand side of Borden Ave. They will then proceed to the Lay-By to drop off and pick-up students as normal.
We ask that parents not drive on Borden Ave in front of the school to either drop off or pick their kids up on these days given the increase in bus traffic that they instead use the entrance at the back of the school by the play structure and parking lot numbered 1690-1711 Borden Ave. We also ask that you advise parents and guardians that there may be a slight delay in drop off times in the afternoon for all students getting bused from General Lake P.S. due to the detour on the dates specified.
Our recommendations for walkers/ cyclists are as follows:
- Students that are approaching on Borden Ave coming from the direction of Wolfe Ave should be advised that they are to use the entrance into the school yard at the back of the school by the play structure and parking lot numbered 1690-1711 Borden Ave.
- Students that are coming onto Borden Ave from Dundonald Dr are to continue as they normally would but are to be advised to use extra caution as there will be more bus traffic on these days as the buses will be using this portion of Borden Ave to go to and from General Lake P.S.
This should be the last detour for this school year. We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
Sincerely,
Natasha Schroeder
