Sunday Night Update December 15

Good evening Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night Update from General Lake Public School.  This is the last week before our holidays so you can mark your calendar with the following events. We begin the week on Monday, December 16 Day 2. We have our rehearsal at 12:15 for our holiday concert.
On Tuesday, December 17 parents are invited to attend our annual holiday concert at 12:15 in the gym.
On Wednesday Dec 18 our orders for our Milk program are due. Hot lunch orders are also due for the January February orders.  Last week there was some confusion over the hot lunch due to the incorrect form posted on the blog.  I believe most errors have been corrected, but if you still have concerns please contact the school. We thank you for your patience and understanding. Also on Wednesday we will be judging for our door decorating contest.
On Thursday we will have our character assembly for the month of December for cooperation beginning at 12:15.
With this special week of festivities I do remind all parents to remember that any food sent into the school should be clearly labelled as nut-free in order to eliminate any undue stress for any of our students who are highly allergic.
Friday December 20th is a Pa Day for myself and support staff so we will be in the building. Our teaching staff however has an unpaid leave day so they will not be available.
If you have not had a chance to check out the Lost and Found please stop by before we pack in up on the holidays.  Also there will be a sign up sheet located in the front foyer for parents able to assist with our hot lunches.
Finally a last reminder that raffle tickets this week will still be available for the beautiful gingerbread house located in our front foyer. Please support our grade 8 student Kamrie as she fundraises to support her humanitarian trip to Kenya. You can check out her facebook site at Kamrie for Kenya.
I will return on January 5 with your weekly update, as school will resume on January 6.
On behalf of the staff I wish all of our families a safe and happy holiday and we look forward to continuing the learning after the break in the New Year.  Hope to see everyone on Tuesday!

Sunday Night Message Dec 8

Good evening Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night Update from General Lake Public School.
This week begins on Monday Dec 9 Day 2. Our Grade 3 students are reminded they have swimming at Dundonald Hall in the afternoon. On Tuesday Day 3 students from our junior classes will be participating in a Peer Mediation Training session in the gym as part of our Champlain Healthy Schools Commitment. On Wednesday Dec 11 Ms Marquardt's class will be holding their annual class potluck. On Thursday and Friday Mrs Ferguson's class are pleased to open their own little holiday gift shop for students with all proceeds going to World Vision to purchase a goat.
The season of giving continues as the 'We Create change' initiative continues to collect lose change to reach their goal of collecting $100.00 to help build schools in developing countries.   Also Kamrie will begin selling the raffle tickets for the beautiful Gingerbread House on display in our front foyer.  Students can buy 2 tickets for $1.00 or 5 tickets for $2.00.   A reminder this is the last week we will be collecting snowsuits for CPAN. Please drop off all gently used suits by Tuesday.  Our Lost and Found will be washed, packed up and donated to charity after December 20. If you have not had a chance, please check out the shelves located in our front foyer to retrieve lost items.  Finally our January February hot lunch order was sent out last week. Please return your order by December 17th.  Have a great evening!
