Good evening. Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night Update from General Lake Public School.
This week we continue the 'We starve Hunger Food Drive'. It is shaping up to be a really successful event with nearly 100 items collected already. Keep that food coming!
Our lost and found continues to overflow with items. Please make it a point to stop by and check out the items. We have a significant amount of smaller items, likely belonging to our Kindergarten students.
On Mon (Day 5) the cross country competitive run meets at 8:30. Runners are asked to bring in all permission forms on Monday.
On Tuesday (Day 1) we have the fun run at 8:30. Later in the day, we have a motivational speaker from Free The Children coming to speak with our junior intermediate students about how they can make a difference in our world. Hot lunch forms are also due to the office.
It is Fire Safety week, and on Wednesday, October 9 (Day 2) members of the local fire department will join our our k-4 students for an informative session in the gym. That evening at 6:00pm parents are welcome to join our fundraising committee in the school library to plan the fundraising events for the year.
On Thursday (Day 3) our competitive cross country team is off to Hugli's. Runners are asked to arrive at 8:30.
Friday is a Pa Day and most of our staff will be at General Panet, as we make plans to unite at Valour.
Don't forget our La Montague fundraiser is due Oct 15. Also submissions for our yearbook cover design contest are due November 14.
Operation Snowsuit has begun and General Lake is collecting new and/or gently used snowsuits and footwear on behalf of CPAN. Please take this opportunity to check your closets and donate any clean gently used snowsuits and/or boots.
Finally, National Family Week is October 7th to 12th and is PACKED with activities for the whole family! This year's theme is "Strong Families, Strong Communities" and focuses on family/community involvement throughout the Petawawa area! Check out the blog for more information
On behalf of the staff, I wish everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend. I will be back with a weekly update on Monday evening.
