Sunday Night Update October 28

Mon Day 3
Tues Day 4
Wed Day 5
Thurs Day 1
Fri Day 2
Good evening. Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night update from General Lake Public School. A big thank you to staff, students, and parents for their tremendous support this past week. As many know, I was away with a family emergency and I really appreciate how smoothly things ran in my absence.
I would like to give one last reminder that Free The Children's Craig Keilburger is coming to Pembroke next week Nov 2 at our Annual Parent Engagement Symposium. Craig Keilburger is the founder of the We movement, one that drives many of our General Lake's initiatives .  I invite all parents to bring their children out to hear him speak.   Registration is on the Board website and it is due tomorrow. Even if you cannot attend the workshops later in the day, I encourage you to come out.
Its a great week to be at Lake with an exciting week of events. Beginning on Monday Day 3Mme MacPhee Grade 4/5 and Mrs  Fergusons Grade 4/5 classes will be going to Huglis for a field trip. Please dress students appropriately for the weather.
On Mon, Wed, and Fri at 8:30 Intermediate students have volleyball practice in the gym.
On Tuesday October 29 the Remembrance Day Posters are due to Mme Robillard
On Wednesday we have an extremely busy day. First it is the last day for our 'WE Starve Hunger' Food Drive. Please check out those cupboards and give generously. It looks like this will be our most successful drive yet.
The intermediate students will be performing plays for the classes throughout the day.
At 12:15 we have two guest speakers, Brampton wrestler Ohenewa Akuffo and Tim Gerritts from the Right to Play program. They will be speaking with our Grade 3-8 students about the importance of sport and keeping physically fit.
Halloween Celebrations will take place from 1-2 with alternative activities provided to accommodate all students.
Spookygrams will be delivered the last nutrition break. Its not to late to get your Spookygrams. Mrs Marquardt's class will be accepting orders on Monday. Order form is located on the Blog.
It is black and orange spirit day and I have left it up to individual teachers whether they permit costumes.  If you are sending costumes, please ensure they don't have toy weapons and masks are only to be worn during appropriate class times.
On Friday we have our character assembly for Optimism from 1-2:00. As always parents are welcome to attend any of our presentations in the gym.
Registration is due this week  for our Annual Gift and Craft show tentatively booked for  Nov 16. If you are interested please contact a member of our School Council or myself for more information.
One final opportunity for our Grade 7-8 students: The legislative Assembly is taking applications for  Pages. More info is located on the blog about this exciting opportunity. Please contact me at school if you are interested and fulfill the qualifications.
Have a great week everyone.
