Dec 9 Sunday Night Message

Deb Legault here with your Sunday night message. Another exciting week at General Lake as we get ready for the holidays.  Our holiday concert is this Friday at 12:05 in the gym.  Many classes have been preparing an exciting program for your entertainment.  We hope to see all of our families out for this exciting event.

On Monday at 3:40 we will be clearing the stage of furniture in preparation for our concert.  If anyone is available to stay for a few minutes we could use some extra strong hands to move tables and chairs.'

On Tuesday and Thursday it is the last days of our volleyball club.  A big thank you to Mrs Crouzat for volunteering her time to coach the grade 6-8 students.

On Wednesday we have our School Council Meeting at 6:00pm in the school library.  All are welcome to attend.  The agenda has been posted on the school blog at www.generallakenews.blogspot.com.

On Friday we have our pizza lunch, as well as our concert.

The following week we have an exciting week filled with fun holiday events and spirit days.  You can preview these on the blog or I will let you know on next weeks message.

Our arts teacher, Mrs Rattray, says thanks to those who have sent along art supplies.  Please continue to send these along, including old lego pieces, bubble wrap, craft sand, tin pie pans, wallpaper pieces, sandpaper, and plastic plates,.  Also she could use some old picture frames to display the students fine artwork.

One final message from the Renfrew County Transportation Consortium regarding the road closure on Borden avenue from Dec 11 until Dec 16.You will not be able to travel completely around Borden Ave due to the presence of a crane and other heavy construction equipment assisting in the construction of new residences.
We ask that parents not drive on Borden Ave in front of the school to either drop off or pick their kids up on these days given the increase in bus traffic.  They also wanted us to announce that there may be slight delay in drop off times in the afternoon for all students getting bused from General Lake P.S. due to the detour on the dates specified.
Recommendations for walkers/ cyclists are as follows:
·         Students that are approaching on Borden Ave coming from the direction of Wolfe Ave should be           advised that they are to use the entrance into the school yard at the back of the school by the play structure and parking lot numbered 1690-1711 Borden Ave.
·         Students that are coming onto Borden Ave from DundonaldDr are to continue as they normally would but are to be advised to use extra caution as there will be more bus traffic on these days as the buses will be using this portion of Borden Ave to go to and from General Lake P.S.
This is the first phase of construction for the new residences on Borden Ave, so please expect these changes to be implemented again in the future, if you have any questions or recommendations please do not hesitate to contact the Renfrew County Transportation Consortium.

Have a great week. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Friday.
