SUNDAY MESSAGE-Oct 21

Good evening, Deb Legault here with your update from General Lake. There are lots of events and announcements again this week.  If you prefer you can also read this announcement on our school blog at  www.generallakenews.blogspot.com

Cold weather is on its way. Please remember to dress your child in layers.  It is often cold in the morning, but as the day goes on it get warmer.

Also our lost and found is already bursting at the seams.  Take some time to check out the numerous items.  If its lost, it just could be here. Lost and Found is located in our front entrance.

We Scare Hunger is in full swing with our food drive.  Keep those non perishables coming in for Spirit Points. Students may also wish to trick or treat for canned food items on Halloween Night.  If your child is interested in doing this, I have posted  a link to the Free the Children website for more information on our blog.  Students interested in trick or treating for canned goods, should deliver a notice, which is included on the blog or available at my office to the targeted houses, prior to Halloween night.  It is good to prepare people in advance if your child will be asking for food donation instead of candy so they have some canned goods available.

Also our Remembrance Day contest has begun.  Students can enter posters, poems or essays. I do need  a form filled out and signed by parents to enter the  Legion;s contest.  Forms are available at my office or on the blog. I would like to have all entries in by Friday, October 26.

Tuesday and Thursday will be our Cross Country Run at 8:30 am.

Our Gift and Craft Show committee meeting is on Thursday October 25th at 6:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.  The date for the Gift and Craft show has been set for Nov 17th.

Pita lunch on Friday.

Also a special reminder to Mme Bernardin's class only. They have a trip tomorrow to the Power of You fitness centre for a workout.  Mme asked me to remind students to bring indoor running shoes, and to wear comfortable workout clothing for the trip.  The trip will take place rain or shine.

Registrations will be open on Monday for the PIC Symposium on Nov 3.  There is lots of interesting workshops including yoga, Free the Children, anxiety and children, destination imagination, and many more along with keynote speaker Elizabeth Manley speaking on Mental illness.  I look forward to seeing many of our General Lake families there for what is sure to be a informative event.  Childcare, light breakfast and lunch are provided free of charge. Register early to ensure availability of choices.

Finally we would like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone for their support in our Fall Fundraiser. With your support we sold $12,700.  Remember  55% of this amount comes back to our school, so we were able to raise a whopping $6985.00 GOOD JOB EVERYONE....
Thanks for your ongoing support and help making General Lake such a great place to be.
Have a wonderful week
