Thank you General Lake

What a wonderful evening we had last night, May 10th, in celebration of Education week filled with friends, family and our wonderful General Lake community.  Superintendant Debra Rantz stopped by to say hello as we celebrated General Lake Public School and our children's student achievement. Three cheers for the General Lake cheerleaders that kept the spirit fun and for Mme De Abreu who lead us in dance fit. Families met with the various community agencies through a riddle activity and many prizes were awarded.  Student leaders were also on hand to do some facepainting and mini manicures.  Families got an opportunity to visit the Bookfair, as well as as visit with our favourite Superdogs Tobi and Paten.  Finally many people took advantage of the pizza (Petawawa Pizzeria) and pitas (Madameek) being sold, as well as Mme Major's delicious free samples of smoothies.  Special thanks to our School Council for all their work organizing the event.  Thanks to our volunteers Mme Major, Mr. Major, Mrs Sykora, Mrs Bemister, and Mrs Peras.  Thanks to Mrs Robillard and Mme Katherine for donating their time to the Bookfair and thanks to Mrs Marquardt for bringing her therapy dogs.  Thanks to all of our community agencies for willingly coming out tonight to show how they can help support education: CPAN, Phoenix Centre, Public Library, Rec Plex, Renfrew County Health Unit and the PMFRC. Finally thanks to our Grade 7/8 student leaders that pitched in to help where they were needed: Jeris Chalmers-Wein, Dominic Plamondon, Emily, Grace, Skye, MacKenzie, Stacy, Unity, Sydney, Jada McInnis, Erin Stacy, Morgan Verjans, Matt, Brianna, and Zoey Scott.  'It takes a village to raise a child' and General Lake definitely has a great, supportive village for our students.  Thanks again for a wonderful evening.
