On May 10th, in celebration of Education Week General Lake was filled with friends, family and our wonderful General Lake community. Three cheers for the General Lake cheerleaders that kept the spirit of the fun-filled evening and for Mme De Abreu who lead us in dance fitness program. Families met with the various community agencies through a riddle of activities and many prizes were awarded. Families also had an opportunity to visit the yearly Book fair organized by Mrs. Robillard, as well as visit with our favourite Super dogs Tobi and Paten from the General Lake Paws to Read Program lead by Mrs. Marquardt. Finally many people took advantage of the pizza (Petawawa Pizzeria) and pitas (Madameek) being sold, as well as free samples of healthy smoothies made from fresh fruit, milk and yogurt offered by the Parent Council. Thank you to all of our community agencies for coming to show their continued support for education: Petawawa Public Library, Petawawa Youth Center (Rec Plex), PMFRC, Phoenix Centre, CPAN and the Renfrew County Health Unit. ‘'It takes a village to raise a child’' and General Lake definitely has a great, supportive village for our students. Superintendant Debra Rantz stopped by to say hello as we celebrated General Lake Public School philosophy that ‘’it takes a whole village to raise a child’’ and it is only as we work together that we can maximize our children’s educational journey.
