This week is Earth week at General Lake and students are encouraged to take action by making a Pledge to Act for the Planet. Whether it is turning off the lights or using less water, students can make a change to help the environment. Students can make their Pledge public by making a poster to display in the front entrance or register at www.ecokids.ca. Kiera and Laurelei in grade 4 are making a pledge to collect donations for the Canada Wildlife Society. Students can bring in their donations to place in the jug in the front entrance. Students can submit their poster pledges to the office.
On Tuesday, April 24 students are invited to bring in their entries for our recycled creation contest. Students can build their creations out of recycled items. Creations will be judged for prizes and then displayed in our mini gallery on the gym stage April 25 -26.
On Wednesday, April 25 at 3:40 until 5:00pm registered students will attend our after school French Club.
On Wednesday and Thursday students will be participating in a yard clean up and a visit to our recycling creation display on the gym stage.
On Thursday, April 26 School Council is also holding a subcommittee meeting at 5:00 pm in the library to discuss and plan the school year end celebration. Everyone is welcome to attend
On Friday, April 27th students are encouraged to wear blue and green for spirit points. This is our pizza hot lunch day. Also on this day we will be honouring our volunteers by hosting a tea at 12:00 followed by our monthly character assembly. At our assembly we will be entertained by Ms Priebe's sign language club, as well as Ms Yakabuskie's Mini musical. As always, all parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Finally the fun continues for students of General Lake on the weekend. On April 28 we have 2 events.
