Sunday Night Update Nov 24

Good evening Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night update from General Lake Public School.  This week we begin on Monday , Nov 25 Day 2 with a volleyball practice at 8:30. Also if you still have some photo orders, please get those in to the school for Lifetouch by Monday.  On Wednesday our intermediate boys are at Bishop Smith for the volleyball tournament and our Grade 3's are at DunDonald pool for their Swim to Survive Program. On Friday it is National Jersey Day. We encourage all students to show their School Spirit by wearing their favourite team jersey. We will also be having our monthly character assembly at 2:45, when we celebrate the achievements of our students in the area of initiative. Parents, as always are welcome to attend.  It is our hot lunch pita day.
Everyday millions of children are deprived of a basic necessity...education. Our intermediate 'We Club' is trying to make a difference by asking students to bring in their spare change to give to developing countries to educate their children.  Collection boxes are located in the front entrance.  . Finally our intermediate classes have been busy creating healthy eating campaign posters. Students are encouraged to read the posters and think about their eating habits.
We are just a few more weeks until the holidays. Please mark your calendar for December 17th when we will be having our annual holiday concert at 12:15. Enjoy the rest of your evening,

November 3 Sunday Night Update

Good Evening! Deb Legault here with your Sunday Night update from General Lake Public School.
The week begins on Monday, Nov 4 Day 3
Intermediate students have volleyball on Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 8:30.
General Lake is proud to announce Le Chef a Lecole will be visiting our school on Monday and Tuesday. All immersion students will be taking part in this unique hands on experience. Students in the Grade 6,7 ,and 8 Core French program will also be taking part.
On Thursday, Nov 7 students in Kindergarten to grade 3 will experience the Legions Colour presentation at 10:30 in the gym. Parents, as always are welcome to attend, as we recognize the importance of Remembrance Day and those that serve for our country.
On Friday, It is hot lunch pizza. Also at 12:30 we will be having a lock down drill and evacuation.  Members of the OPP and the MP's will be on hand as we practice this important safety measure.  We will evacuate to the Southside Community Centre at approximately 1:00pm.
Finally, a couple announcements from our School Council. Please remember to send all money into the school in a sealed envelop or bag. Also just a reminder the Council does not reimburse the cost if the student is absent. That being said, at times, staff at the school have reimbursed funds if they purchase the hot lunch from the absent student. But just remember this is just a courtesy and should not be expected.
Don't forget to continue to send in that Canadian Tire Money as well as those stamped Moncion receipts.

Mark your calendars for some of the exciting events:
Nov 11 we will be having our Remembrance Day Service.
On Nov 12 our Bookfair will begin.
Thanks and enjoy the remainder of your evening.
